The ACM Community Centre

Introduction

ACM was established in 2001 at 14-15 Castle Street, Castleconnell as a Community Owned Co-Operative Society and is responsible for running the Parish Community Centre. By the way, ACM stands for Ahane, Castleconnell and Montpelier!  The local community own the ACM Co-Operative Society which in turn owns & manages the Community Centre building.  Each community shareholding member of ACM has one vote and a Management Committee is elected each year at the ACM Annual General Meeting.  

 

The Management Committee members work on a voluntary basis and currently are as follows:

Pat Dempsey (Chairperson), Mary Gleeson (Vice Chairperson & Registrar), Patrick Dickson (Secretary), Breda Casey (Asst. Secretary), Mary Golden (Treasurer), Irene Cullen (Asst. Treasurer), John Mac Namara (PRO), Phylla Lynch (Castleconnell PRO), Stephen Clothier (Technical Officer), Cora Moran (Childcare Leader), Catherine O’Connor, Bernie Murnane, Angela Dempsey, Tom Tyrell, Dillie Edmonds, Ena Walshe and Lettie Sloane.

 

 

The Community Centre has been hugely successful since its foundation and provides the following facilities to the community:

 

Meeting Rooms

For voluntary clubs & societies e.g. Community Council, ACM Committee, An Caisleán Group, Craft Fair Committee, FÁS Group, Prayer Group, Yoga Classes, Weight Loss Group, Computer Training Classes, Mother & Toddler Group,  Art Classes, Local Residents Associations, Gardening Classes and many more!


           

Community Secretarial Services

Typing, b/w photocopying, colour laser printing, internet access.  This service is available to all local community groups and private individuals.

 

 

 

Childcare (After School Service)

The ACM Community provides an after School childminding service for children aged 4-13 years.   Lunches, play, homework supervision, outings or just 'chill out' etc. are all part of the daily activities.   The service runs from 2pm or 3pm until 6pm Monday to Friday.   Contact Elaine Fawl (Childcare Manager) if you would like to book your child in.

 

 

 

Other Services

Limerick Employment Service, Day and Evening Classes, Book Fair, Annual Community Calendar, June Village Fun Day, Children's Santa Cave at Christmas, Castleconnell St. Patrick's Day Parade.
