Explore the history of our bog with our local historian Paddy Tuohy<\/p>\n

Assemble at the ACM, Castle Street, Castleconnell for a brief introduction followed by a visit to the bog. Transport can be provided. Please wear suitable footwear.<\/p>\n

Exhibition, guided tour and talks on Early Mesolithic find at Hermitage<\/h2>\n

Saturday 26 August 10.00 \u2013 16.00<\/h4>\n

10:00 -12:00\u00a0<\/strong>Mesolithic site at Hermitage, Castleconnell:<\/strong>
\nOn-site talks by lead archaeologist Dr Tracy Collins and local geologist Dr Pat O\u2019Connor.<\/p>\n

Assemble at 9.45 am at the ferry car park beside the playground in Castleconnell for a walk along the riverbank to the site. Please wear suitable footwear.<\/p>\n

2.30 pm The Making of an Axe:<\/strong>
\nDemonstration by Dr Bernard Gilhooly, UCD, of production of adze axe found in Pit A cremation from excavation.
\nVenue : ACM Community Centre, Castle Street, Castleconnell<\/p>\n

4.00 pm\u00a0The Castle and its conservation:<\/strong>
\nIntroduction by Dr Tracy Collins followed by a talk on the conservation of the Castle by conservation architect, David Humphreys.\u00a0(supported by Castleconnell Tidy Towns)
